  • Quilting Software For Mac
    카테고리 없음 2020. 3. 25. 20:38

I have an IMac desktop and a MacBook laptop which I usually use to surf the web and go on QB. I have a Toshiba to run my EQ 7 and all my embroidery patterns for my Viking otherwise I don't use it at all. The PC is just for quilting and embroidering. Since the Mac is not easily hacked or get viruses I use it strickly for the web and email.

I am a Mac slum person I guess. It is so user friendly and loads and shuts down very quickly because it doesn't have programs running in the back ground like the PC and I don't have to buy any virus programs. My MacBook is an Intel but choose not to run Windows on it. I will be following this thread, as I am a PC person wanting to switch to MAC.

I just have to much software for PC that I do not want to invest in getting a MAC version. I am inthe computer business, on the new macs they have a program called boot camp which can be set up in Windows OS The easiest solution (IMHO) is VM Ware, but you do need a licensed copy of Windows (which legally you need to buy) so the cost of the VM ware with the Windows OS will be $200+ minimum So, you may want to purchase one those cheap PC's from one of the box stores to run your windows software and buy a Mac for everything else. I have a 15' MacBookPro. Also have a Pfaff 2170 embroidery machine which 4D Embroidery software is not compatible with Snow Leopard or any of the operating systems. But my Mac came with Boot Camp. At the time my choice was install Windows XP on one side of Boot Camp, so that there would be dual processors. The other choice was Parallels, which if basically the same but you can have both Snow Leopard and Boot Camp running at the same time.

I didn't like that idea so I went with Boot Camp since it was already there. When I turn on the Mac it defaults to the Mac side, but to get to Window XP I have to hold down the 'Option' key until the gray screen with the two separate hard drive disk come up, and then I double click on the Window XP one to get to my Embroidery 4D software. I also download my designs and save them from my email purchases on that side. I do run a security program and it has indeed detected viruses from time to time and quarantined or deleted them.

Never see any on the Mac side. I hate having to have Windows on my Mac but that is the only way to transfer embroidery designs to my Pfaff without going out and bying a Dell or any other Windows supported system.

Jilliane, I run a windows free Mac also. I am with you on the idea of if I wanted windows, I would not have a Mac.

I would not give up my Mac for anything. I fought with PC's for many yrs and you cannot tell anyone how much better a Mac is. They won't listen to you. It is way better. If you have a quilting software answer, let me know.

Until then keep using our apples. We got our first ever Mac a little over a year ago after 20 years of PC's and I wouldn't go back to a PC for all the tea in China. I can say for the first time in my life that I love my computer!

    Macs are awesome!

Lisamult, Great app, but with significant limitations I love designing quilts with this app.

    Quilting Software For Mac

    Mac

With the ability to upload my own fabric, I can see accurately what the finished quilt would look like, And the yardage calculator is a godsend. However, the limitations are too significant to merit 5 stars. The blocks can only be square.

While it wouldn't be a problem with many traditional quilts, it severely limits the types of quilts that can be designed. There are many quilt designs with rectangular, triangle, or even hexagon blocks. Those are not an option with this app. The border options are basically zero. You can only have one 5' border. This is pretty strange, given that there are almost endless ways to design borders on a quilt, including multiple borders, pieced borders, etc.

Same with sashing. You can have cornerstones, but that's about it. I wanted to design a quilt with Ohio stars as part of the cornerstone and sashing, but it's not possible with this app.

    Quilting Software For The Mac

Also, it's impossible to tell how wide the sashing is when adjusting with the sliding bar. You have to exit the screen and click another button to see any dimensions. Very frustrating. I do love this app. If it were making only very traditional quilts with Just one 5-inch borders, I wouldn't have any complaints. But I find the above limitations puzzling, and frustrating. Developer Response, Really happy to hear you are enjoying designing quilts with Quiltography.

With regards to the border, you can indeed have a pieced border, just set any of your blocks to the border, many users create technically impressive borders as well as the effect of multiple borders this way. The size of the border is not fixed to 5” but proportional to the rest of the quilt. With the cornerstones; you can also set any block to them just as easily as you add blocks to the rest of the quilt. Hope this helps. Pippacabra, In love with this app. I had been trying for a long time to figure out how to keep track of my stash without having to cut off the corners and staple them into notebooks. When I was searching the App Store for what seemed like the hundredth time I came across this one. As I read the description and reviews my heart jumped for joy. When I saw the price my heart sank.

I decided I wasn't ready to pay that. After several months and lots of trying to find 'that fabric i bought for that one project' 5 years ago, I finally decided it was worth it to buy the app. I love being able to take pictures of my fabric, make notes as to how much I bought, what project it is for and most importantly where I put it. I also like being able to use the block templates or create my own with the pictures of my fabrics.

I also like being able to create a quilt with the blocks and fabrics I have. I have showed this app to several quilting friends and they really like it too. However they do not have iPads and most likely are not going to get one just for this app. I think it would be beneficial to them and the developers of this app to make it for the google store as well. A bug!, Doesn’t work too well Good idea but execution is lacking. Just created a block, all pieces are filled in, but it won’t save.

It says the block isn’t finished. You can’t adjust the size of your fabrics to show more of the design in a piece. You can’t overlap pieces when creating a block so curves are really hard to do (example the Cathedral Window design). Adding things like copy and paste when creating blocks would be good. Can’t seem to edit a block once you create it.

Would be helpful when you’re designing a block that when you touch a spot on the block if the selection wheel would go around to the fabric. Idea: Save your fabric swatches you plan to use in a particular quilt by that quilt name so you can pull them up all together; this would help you avoid having to search for a specific fabric.
